Save Our Culture

This is about the constant rambling in our media and our politics that the present generation has forgotten our culture. People in political groups like RSS bamboozle the people into believing that in our present times Indians have forgotten their culture. They think its their sovereign duty to bring the people back to the 'Indian' culture. Well , I have serious doubts about it.

First, what is the definition of 'culture'. All these 80 something year old people in our present day politics believe that whatever old is our culture. But I ask them ,which culture are they talking about. Culture is not something static. If it would be so, it would have died out. Culture is dynamic. Its constantly evolving and changing. The culture of the 18th century is different from the culture which was in the 10th century.

In the end, I would like to say that just because something is old, doesnt make it right. Our culture is not perfect and neither does it have to be. Every thing should be subject to our logic and scrutiny. Whatever aspects are appliable in the present age should be accepted and rest should be discarded.
